Hatch Show Print partners with Anthropologie
WOW! We have always loved Hatch Show Print’s letterpress work. They are a traditional down-home letterpress shop that are owned and operated by the Country Music Hall of Fame. The letterpress process dates back to the 15th century. Each unique Hatch creation is individually handcrafted and inked onto paper, producing posters that through the years have been established as a downtown Nashville landmark.
Originally they printed small posters and promotions for filling stations, laundries, grocery stores and movie theaters. Today they produce work for a wide variety of clients including musicians, record labels and cultural arts organizations. Today I received my Anthropologie catalog in the mail and instead of an antiqued image of Tahiti or a smokey out-of-focus shot of a deserted beach, the front cover highlights Hatch Show Print! I love the creative thinking behind this partnership. It’s expected, yet refreshing. Good combination of graphic design, music and Anthropolgies’s target audience.
Be still my beating heart. Here are a few shots from inside the Hatch shop courtesy of blurbism. This renews my itch to learn more traditional printing methods. Just wait till I post my first attempt at screen printing from this spring. ekk.
