The Gap hires RISD students to create wearable art

I am all for wearable art. And I am all for RISD, Rhode Island School of Design (fiance graduated from there). And I am known to shop at the Gap. But put them all together? Interesting. In its first collaboration with a college, Gap invited RISD students to create wearable art. Donna Gustavsen, the head of the Apparel Design Department, challenged students to design clothing “with freshness, ingenuity and subtle surprises.” Thirty one-of-a-kind cardigans sold out the first day they were displayed at Gap’s rotating concept venue adjacent to its flagship store at Fifth Avenue and 54th Street in NYC.
